Job training that means higher incomes and better prospects

In 2015, we introduced a new competitive, three-year grant program--Bridges to Career Opportunities (BCO). This new program helps those with low incomes start and progress along a career pathway that offers them a higher income and greater advancement potential.

BCO takes the bundled services approach of our Financial Opportunity Centers a step further by adding an intensive focus on preparing people for careers in high demand local industries. Participants get: 1) basic education and language skills, 2) career training, credentials, and placement, and 3) personalized career and financial counseling--all in one place.

Over the next three years, BCO will engage more than 200 local employers in serving nearly 700 individuals with low incomes, of which half will achieve an industry-recognized credential, be placed in careers they've been trained for, improve their credit scores, and increase their incomes and net worth. About 85% of those served will be people of color.
